Coach Sharon

Ben has had the privilege of being called "Coach" by both our daughters throughout the years. He did an excellent job coaching many of their soccer teams. I, however, do not know very much about soccer, nor do I really like the sport all that much, which pretty much left me out of the coaching realm.

Greta also plays basketball, which I could have coached, but there was a coach already in place. I thought I was destined to be forever the non-coach parent.

Then, Greta signed up for volleyball! Could there be a better sport? I think not. Of all the sports I played, volleyball was my favorite. And the best news was that her team was in need of a coach! I signed up right away!

We had our second practice last night, and I have to tell you that I am very impressed with how these 3rd and 4th graders are coming along!

Greta and I are having so much fun, and I absolutely love being called Coach Sharon!

How fun for you and Greta! Maybe we can come catch a game? I'll check with you on the schedule so we can see Greta, and Coach Sharon in action.

By the way, you are my amusement park coach.

Oh Sharon!!! It's on! The most wonderful time of the year.....volleyball season! This post is so funny because my husband has also coached all of my kids' sport teams. He coached 3 years of Sarah's softball, which I know nothing about because I was a real athlete and ran track :) But I seriously pondered the idea of coaching Sarah's volleyball this year, but I decided I better hang low and if they need help I would be more then happy to jump in. Well, her team already has two coaches. But.....Sarah is in 3rd grade and playing in the Boys/Girls club league. So, maybe we will meet soon!

I come from a non sports family. I never liked sports. I can't run. I can't jump. I can't hit something flying toward me. My memories of playing (forced to play in PE!) volleyball were getting bruises up and down my forearms. (I know, I wasn't hitting the ball right.) It's great that your family is good at and enjoys sports!

I hope you enjoy your new coaching position!

OK - so I just want to know if you ALWAYS have your video camera??? Hum...who does that remind you of? I think one of the things I remember most about our sporting days at SCS is YOUR MOM always there with her video camera. Great times:-) I'm not that far into it with my kids. Ian's dying to play ANYTHING but since he's only 2, he can't play anything that's organized. Bella is 5 now and she's getting her first taste of soccer being played outdoors (even in the rain). As you, I don't know much about soccer, so I'm watching from the sidelines. Olivia is 8 and can you believe, she doesn't really have any interest in any of the sports I was interested in? How dare she?!? She loves to dance (as does Bella) and she's recently taken up tennis. Buy hey, anything to keep them active, right?

Coach Sharon! I like the sound of that! You guys are going to have so much fun!

So I was thinking the other day of all the memories I have of you and Ben and I can't believe how many there are. I even remember staying at your parents house.
But one thing that stands out to me is the scrapbook that you made of you and Ben. I remember I just loved looking at that. Thinking you should so a post about it!!!

I can't wait to see you in your jersey that says Coach on it...is there a ring watch to match something like that? You will do a great job. Remember Ladies, Sharon's bday is just days away.

My daughter is on the "Quest" team with the pink shirts. Just look for the girl who jump-serves and blocks all your girls' serves, and digs every hit, that's Sarah. Kidding....she's clueless

What's the name of Coach Sharon's team?

Lizzy,
It's so funny that you should post this comment because I was just about to do the same thing to you! Greta is on the Dream Team (that's right! The DREAM team!) and we have an interesting mix of seasoned vets and newbies! They're hilarious!

I'm in Seattle right now for a couple days, but when I get back I'll check my schedule to see when we play Quest! I was thinking that we HAVE to get a picture of our girls together and post it! It would be like blogging buddies offspring unite! Yes, I know, I'm stupid, but hey whatever! I can't wait to meet you! Yea!

I love the idea of the "blogging offspring" picture! That made me laugh out loud.

I am so bummed about one thing though: our teams play each other on October 13th, and I will be at The Women of Faith conference in Portland. I'm not even sure if Sarah will be able to play in that game, because my husband will be working and his mom is babysitting. It might be a little too much for her. But our game is right before yours on Oct. 6th, so I'm sure we will see each other then. This is so funny, like online dating or something....we're actually "meeting" :) My husband makes fun of me when I talk about my "blogging friends" Oh well!
Have fun in Seattle!
