Good-Bye Nails!

For the first time in my life, I am actually proud that my fingernails look like this:

Why?

Because I am finally working toward a goal that I have had for quite some time.

I'm learning to play the guitar! I've said that I've wanted to learn for years now, but have never put the time and effort into doing it. But now, two weeks into lessons, I now have visible calluses on my fingers and have learned some basic chords that have enabled me to play a few worship songs that my daughters have actually been able to sing along to, albeit, they have to be patient while I switch from D to G and right back to D again. Hard!!

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks, eh?

Maybe someday I can play publicly.....but until then, Poco is quite a sufficient audience for me!

What is something you've always wanted to learn?

You are so talented. I can't play any instruments. I took piano lessons when I was young and hated it. Regret it now!

Sharon...that's awesome! My brother did the guitar thing later in life too, and he is able to lead worship now with ease. You'll have to keep us bloggers posted on your lessons and progress.

Angela, you play guitar? I never knew that! Rock on!!

As far as something I've always wanted to learn...I'd have to say, recently, I've wanted to learn the greek and hebrew languages. 3 years of being married to a guy in seminary has caught up with me!!

That is so cool! I can't wait to hear you play and by the time I see you next you might be ready to play public, you think?

I would like to learn how to stay up late and sleep in :). Oh and I also think it would be fun to learn to speak spanish.

Kazoo. I've always wanted to learn to play the kazoo. It's so complicated, though, right up there with the air guitar.

YoU RoCk ShArOn! Seriously thats awesome! A while ago Adam began teaching me how to play the bass guitar. I loved it. I need to start practicing again. I love music but, the talent doesn't come to me naturally. So it may take awhile but, I say once I know bass and you know guitar we put together a little concert ;)

This is so AWSOME Sharon. I have always wanted to play an instrument - guitar? drums? piano? Something! I am sure you will pick it up quickly! Your music background is some help but it's your determination and love for music that will make it easy! God bless - looking forward to hearing you play!

Hi there. I'm back! Good to catch up with you (at least I caught up on what's happening with you). Here's something that I've always wanted to do (kind of learn, I guess). I've always wanted to finish my degree! Crazy, huh? Well, amidst 3 kids and full time job and wife stuff, I've gone back - at least online. I'm taking one class per quarter. I figure I'll finish about the same time that my girls graduate from college! How fun is that?
