31 Flavors

As our Growth Group stood in a line 31 people deep to receive our 31 cent scoops of ice cream tonight at B&R, we gazed at the 31 flavors laid out before us.

It was obvious that some people knew exactly what they were going to order the minute our field trip was suggested. They order the same thing every time. There's no need to even peruse the options.

Others had an idea what they wanted, but glanced at all the possibilities--just to make sure.

There were some who changed their minds several times before hesitantly placing their order, then immediately second-guessed what they had just uttered.

Still others were so undecided that they resorted to having others decide for them. It was simply too much pressure.

Me? I am a decisive person. Rarely do I struggle with making a decision. I do not, however, enjoy monotony. I like change. I also will vary my preferences based on my particular mood or circumstance. Tonight, I wasn't sure what I wanted when I entered the store, but I almost instantly designed my creation the moment I gazed through the glass freezer. It was something I had never ordered, and it was perfect. Two flavors that complimented each other like Sanjaya and his hair.

Observing the plethora of humanity and their varied ways of choosing which ice cream delight to devour, I realized just how awesome God is. He didn't stop at 31. He has made each and every one of us so unique and special. We are each an absolute flavorful masterpiece. It is incredible.

You are incredible.

I am so blessed to have the many flavors of friends that I have. Each of them adds so much to my life. They are all a treat and I love them.

Tonight's ice cream choice? 1 scoop orange sherbet, 1 scoop chocolate fudge.

What type of B&R patron are you? Thanks for your flavor in my life!

Okay, I really need to get going on my study, but I had to sneak by here. Great post. I love being your friend. God has given me a gift in getting to know you better and better over the years. And others too, I sort of feel spoiled in the friends department here in Salem. Thanks God.

Glad that "other" song is gone. It is not okay for me to be singing, you give love a bad name. Oh give me the shivers!

I did get to watch the performance. The boys wanted to see it, Gary found it on the internet, I was cornered. Ya, he did good. So who was voted off?

Mint Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter and Chocolate.
By the way, Cherries Jubiliee was Daniel's very first taste of "real" food - Daddy did that!

Peanut butter and chocolate, hands down. I like other flavors, but the call of my precious combination is just too strong!

I am glad you are a flavor in my life. I love that we connect on so many levels. And you bring a uniqueness to my life that is irreplaceable. Oh, and you bring Bon Jovi into my life in a new way too.

Sharon ... this is your friend, Daquiri Ice. It's always been my fave!
Chocolate and Orange Sherbet? Sounds just like you, sweet with a little "kick"!
You're a "kick" to be friends with ... love ya!

As I stood in line here in West Salem, I knew exactly what my figure needed...Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and Choc. Chip Cookie Dough. Upon ordering the sweet lady informed me they ran out of Reeses. What?! Think fast Abby, come on...Oreo! I want Oreo and Choc. Chip Cookie Dough. Disappointed I tried to get down the 2 scoops. It's really a shame swimsuit season is right around the corner.

I'm leaving a second comment for two reasons:
1.) Ice Cream is so important to me, it deserves another entry and...
2.) I think I added my picture to my comments per your instructions.
When I graduated college (at 33 years old in 1997) Jim arranged for my very most favorite ice cream to be brought to me in Colfax, WA. The company is local to San Jose, CA and is called Treat Ice Cream. They make the BEST Mint Chip EVER!!! He had my sister bring it and he also bought me a Limoise box shaped like an ice cream cart - very much like one we had seen in Paris together in 1987.
