"Greta! Come to the computer and see this adorable girl named Sarah! You're going to meet her on Saturday at your volleyball game!"
When I was 9 years old, those words could not have been uttered, for they would have made no sense at all. But lo and behold we live in a glorious day and age where virtual friends can become flesh and blood realities! That is exactly what happened today!
Greta had seen pictures of Sarah on her mom's blog, LizzyG, of A Look Inside, and, always eager to make a new friend, Greta was excited to meet her in real life. And I was just as excited to meet the infamous Liz, aka LizzyG!
It was somewhat like a scene out of You've Got Mail, whereas I felt as if I needed to be carrying my favorite book with a rose in it, like it was some sort of blind date or something! Pretty funny when you think about it. As I entered the gymnasium, I scanned the crowd for some sort of familiar face from blogland references, but no one matched the bill. Apparently Liz saw me first and came around from the other side of the bleachers to say hello. What a fun meeting! We both had to laugh as we realized how weird and cool this was at the same time!
I think that other than the fact that Greta and I dwarfed them like we were strange giants, we felt like kindred spirits! So, thanks, Blogland~you done good!

Ahh man!!! You beat me to it! I just walked in the door, I can't believe you posted already....You're good! Yes, it was wonderful meeting the two of you. I felt like I was a giddy, nervous wreck! I must say you are even more beautiful in real life, and yes, much taller too! Greta is such a sweet girl, with a beautiful smile. She actually reminds me a lot of Sarah. When the girls are in high school we need to live in the same school district, so Sarah can be the setter and your daughter the outside hitter on their team!
Thanks again for the chocolate and card! You're such a good "blogger friend"
That is too funny! I was totally gonna say in this post that you were even prettier in person and that you probably thought I was uglier~explaining your surprise when you saw me! : ) But then I thought, no she'll think I'm weirder than she already thinks I am! I think it's fair to say we're both weird! : )
I guess you'd better move to Sprague's district then! Start planning now.
I know, I know, as I was typing "you're beautiful", I was thinking that sounds way too weird....but I thought, oh well! Yes, we are both weird. Like when you did your jury duty post, that was totally me!!! I would have done the exact same thing. We're just two abnormal peas in a pod aren't we?
I want to meet Liz, too! I see a "bloggers get-together" in the future!
Finally, someone short like me! YEA!
So great that you guys got together. (And are developing a friendship at such an alarming rate!) Yes! I think a get together is in order. Maybe a coffee night at our crib?
blog friends and coffee.....I'm in!
I'm in too - did she say coffee??? And did I just invite myself?
DO it... the coffee thing... it's so worth it!!!
A few of us here out in the East Side of Oregon "Blog Land" met for ice cream... and it was so fun!
God is definitely using technology to bring great women together!! :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
And for those of you who don't know...LizzyG's actually 5'11". Yes, Sharon really is, in truth, a giant.
And for those of you who don't know...I'm a horrible joker. And by horrible joker I mean I joke a lot; not that I'm bad at jokes. Or perhaps a little of both.
That's cool that ya'll met. I'm afraid to meet anyone who I blog with that I don't know in the real world. I think I'm more humorous on paper (or computer, as it is) than in real life. I fear I may not live up to any expectations I may have helped to build! ;)
I think you will do just fine Valerie! It is always great to meet new friends!
~Danielle :)
